This one has been in the works for a good six months now.
I wanted to paint an Oni, a typical, Japanese, otherworldly, creature.
Traditionally, they are linked with Lightning-storms, have Cows' horns, a cow tail and wield big Japanese clubs.
But since I can't just let things be I added some elements of the Fomori, the Celtic Sea-demons.
I also wanted to depict the "tranquility before the storm", showing the Oni as he emerges from the sea, and the startled and frightened fisher(wo)man who is hiding (probably completely in vain....)
Hope you enjoy.
This illustration will be made into a print. The income of the sales from this will go to our Garden-fund, since we never seem to be able to save up for our garden. Message me right here, or the studio on Facebook-www.facebook.com/StudioColroup… - for more info.
Artwork done for the Fantasy Flight Games LCG Conquest.
This one is part of the Jungles of Nectavus (www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/…)expansion set.
Since the set is out, and I have my contributors set, I'm posting it.
Was a fun card to work on.
