An update!

Yes, and you should be as excited as me about it.

The things we are going to take up today:
- The Road to Jove
- Would you Patreon me?
- Rare, Time-limited €100 Commissions.
- What the future holds

So let's get started, shall we?

The Road to Jove

What is The Road to Jove?
The Road to Jove is a (for now) Web-comic penned by New York Times Bestselling Author Aaron Dembski-Bowden, and illustrated by..well, me.
It's a sci-fi story. The rest, I believe, I will leave for this weekend.
When is it out?
I'm glad you ask. The first update is tomorrow. Friday the 6th of February!
Tell us where!!!
Right here!

Would you Patreon me?
So there is this thing called Patreon.
Patreon is a platform for Ongoing Crowdfunding for artists. It's for any form of artists, really, and if you give me a minute to explain how it works, I'd like you to give me an indication if this would be interesting for you guys. Eventually, I will be starting a Patreon run, but this is for me to be able to plan it better to be able to give more.

So what is Patreon exactly?
Patreon lets fans support their favorite creators by becoming patrons. Unlike other fundraising services, which raise for a single big event, Patreon is for creators who create a stream of smaller works.
You pledge an ammount to give to whoever you patronage per released work.
Essentially, if you pledge a Dollar, that ammount will be paid to your patronage recipient every time they release a work through Patreon. Or, if you pleadge per month, once every month.

Like Kickstarter or similar crowdfunding platforms, you can get rewards for pledging more, but the idea is to keep it small and ongoing, to help artists be able to work on the things they love to create.

As an example:

You would want to be my patron, and you pledge $1 (or more) per release.
Everytime I release a new work through Patreon, your pledge will be carried out and I receive a dollar from you.
You can also put a "monthly max" on this, to keep it within your budget.

If you don't want it to go crazy, you can pledge $1 per month instead (or more).
Even if I release three images for that month, I will just receive $1 fom you.

Essentially, you sign up to "subscribe" to my art, but only pay as much as you want per release or per month.
The art will come out whether you pledge or not, but Patreon makes it possible for me to take a bit more time to create works I can show to my fans, rather then having to wait, sometimes forever, for a release of something I worked on a long time ago.

For now, since I am still doing contracted jobs, my updates will not be that frequent, hence there will only be "per release" pledges available if I start his up.

The question is, would this be interesting?
If I did this, would it be interesting?
Let me know in the comments!
What would you want to see, artwise from me?

There would be individual illustrations. I would aim for one per month/bi-monthly, to start off with.

What sort of rewards would you like to see?

I can add rewards at different levels (to start, perhaps just for $5 and $10, but potentially for higher ammounts, if people really want to patronage for that much).
So what would you think is a good reward?

It need be doable, so no individual sketches at these low ammounts, but things like Work in Progresses, or mini-tutorials, or even art-critique?
Give me your opinion in the comments!

€100 Commissions!

To generate a bit of variety in the illustrations/sketches Studio Colrouphobia produce, I have a special offer that will run until further notice-

One character on a very simple background, or two on no background (see examples here) for €100.

We charge €30 upfront and the rest upon completion.

For more info (and a full view of both example-images) go to our blog.

You can contact me through the deviantart account (keep in mind I sometimes am away for a few days from here) or via our ABOUT-page on our blog.

What the future brings

Who knows?
Currently working on several commissions that are being released later this year. Some work I have done last year should have been released end January but hasn't hit the shelfes just yet, so in the near future.

Wow your stuff is amazing! Wish you had some process shots I'm so curious about your methods!

Hi Brian, I'm trying to do some process shots of a recent work I got, but it is very difficult for me to do process shots because I do not have a standard procedure.

Essentially, if I have an idea or script/brief

1st I lay the very rough lines of how things are organised on the page/panel.

2nd I either block in rough values of light and dark / OR / I copy-paste things from other places, make them black and white, and add them to my shapes (this is to get a sense of roughness to the values. The idea is NOT to take something from someone else , it is to use textures and/or shapes that will fit in my work.

3rd I will start painting. I will paint on top of everything. The key is- whatever gets you to your goal. have a clear view of how you want it to look in your mind, and do whatever you can to attain this goal.

4th I will do some adjustments of colour and light (for instance, lights in the scene can get pushed by using a slight colour dodge in Photoshop. Shades can get helped by using Soft light and paint a saturated dark).

5th, whatever is needed to finalize it. This might be nothing, it might be adding a texture or doing a filter.

I hope that helps, but to be honest, half of the time I don't work like this neither... it is just the most common way I work, not THE way. :)
